University of Wales Institute, Cardiff
UWIC is incorporating ESD&GC into their ITET courses and will this year be holding a full day on Sustainable Development for all its students at which a variety of organisations will be giving presentations.
Trinity College, Carmarthen
Trinity College provides for ESD&GC in its BA(Ed) and PGCE courses through the Professional geography course and the Widening Horizons module (year 2) and through the Professional geography course, Geography Major Field Course and the Professional and Major Field course (Year 3).
University of Wales, Swansea
Secondary PGCE: Sustainable Development was 'billed' with citizenship on the Professional Studies programme and was included as part of a lecture presentation and followed-up in a discussion seminar. Trainees were required to undertake some reading ( Essential reading) as preparation for the session. In the Professional Studies programme that runs as a parallel in schools, with sessions organised by the Senior Mentors in schools, trainees look at the issue in the context of the school.
Swansea Institute
Global issues are raised through Educational and Professional Studies in each year of the course and through Geography, English, Media Studies and Science specialist subjects.
The Institute ahs a ling-standing link with the World Studies Trust and its Global Teacher Project. Innovative work has been carried out with mentors and students.
